I...Dear Anonymous, I hope I didn't offend you. I TOTALLY agree with you. A teacher is the most underpaid, under-appreciated profession. Without teachers there wouldn't be doctors, lawyers, THE PRESIDENT, yet they make a fraction of the amount of money. I would say most people go into teaching because they want to make a difference in our children. We know they don't do it for the money. I could never teach. The children might be wonderful, but I don't know how teachers deal with parents.
My frustration about this week, I am caregiver for my 5 grandchildren. One is in all day kindergarten, one is in afternoon kindergarten, and 3 are with me all day. The afternoon kindergartner has had 3 field trips this last week of school. Normally she goes from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Monday she had to be there at 9:30am until 12:30pm, Wednesday from 9:00am until 2:30pm, and Friday 9:30am until 12:15pm. These times are critical. Being a stay at home grammie, I don't have a car during the day. So I have to walk the mile to and from school with the 3 little ones, ran or shine. The 3 year old can't walk the 4 miles. The baby can't sit in a wagon. Today when I pick Luiza up, I will also have to bring home her booster seat. The mothers and fathers cannot take time off work to accommodate the time change. They use their sick days for their sick kids.
I sure don't expect teachers to act a babysitters, I just wish the hours the kindergartner goes to school wouldn't be altered. Especially, 3 days in one week.
If you are a teacher, God bless you. We are indebted to you for all you do for our children.barbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16748235920861232846noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8980642743339897364.post-89556382491532100512010-06-15T17:01:30.337-07:002010-06-15T17:01:30.337-07:00Very cute hat. It is not the job of the teacher/school to keep hours convenient to the parent/grandparent/caregiver. If teachers were paid as babysitters, they'd make a LOT more money than they do now!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8980642743339897364.post-69097468052607083892010-06-15T07:07:10.684-07:002010-06-15T07:07:10.684-07:00Woo Hoo!!
